HOW DOES IT WORK?
SkinGenius Clinic utilise tiny injections of botulinum toxin (Botox) into specific facial muscles to effectively reduce lines caused by facial expression. Botox is a purified protein that “freezes” the face muscles (by temporarily blocking nerve signals leading to muscles) in order to prevent and treat wrinkles. Entirely safe and FDA approved, it is commonly used to treat lines and wrinkles around the forehead, eyes and other areas of the face where muscles are repetitively used. Botox is widely recognized as the gold standard treatment for diminishing unwanted lines, having been used safely and successfully for over 40 years.
Whilst frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet are the most popular areas for treatment, other areas can also be effectively addressed. Generally, you can expect to see your full results within 2 weeks after treatment and we will schedule a review appointment to assess your botox results at that time. The effects of Botox typically last between 3-6 months before the muscles resume their movement and additional lines may appear.

Do I need an initial consultation before my treatment?
Yes, every client at SkinGenius Clinic must have a consultation prior to treatment, regardless of how many times you have visited before. Our highly skilled medical practitioners will thoroughly review your concerns and provide expert advice on the most suitable treatment for you.
How long does Botox last?
Generally, Botox anti-wrinkle injections last between 3 and 4 months. However, first-time users may notice that the treatment lasts a slightly shorter amount of time, whilst people who have multiple treatments may find that results last longer.
What’s the difference between Botox and dermal fillers?
Botox expertly relaxes wrinkles on the upper half of the face.
Dermal fillers provide natural-looking results, addressing lost volume in areas such as nose-to-mouth lines and enhancing lips.
Will I experience any pain or side effects with Botox injections?
Botox is virtually painless; you’ll likely only feel a small pinch. With medically trained professionals, injections are also very quick. Occasionally, Botox can result in side effects including – some swelling and redness in the treated areas, slight bruising and tenderness in treated areas, minor bleeding, headache or mild flu symptoms, dizziness and nausea.
What can anti-wrinkle injections be used to treat?
Anti-wrinkle injections can treat the area between the brows, to lift the eyebrows, to treat forehead lines, crows feet and under eye wrinkles. It is also used on the jaw line and to treat a gummy smile or lip lines
Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?
When completed by a medically trained professional, anti-wrinkle injections are very safe and come with very minimal associated risk. In fact, Botox is among the safest aesthetic treatments available.
How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that lead to the muscles. The result of this is that muscles relax and lines and wrinkles are softened. They also diminish the impact of overactive muscles which contribute to the formation of wrinkles.
How many injections will I need?
At SkinGenius Clinic, we typically recommend 4-6 injections per treatment area to achieve optimal results. However, with multiple treatments, you can expect even better outcomes. By building on the relaxation of muscles from previous sessions, we effectively reduce skin creasing and reinforce the reduction of wrinkles.
What happens to the Botox that has been injected?
This will not accumulate in your system as it is broken down by the body within the first 48 hours of treatment.
What do I need to consider after the treatment?
As no recovery time is needed, there is little aftercare required. Immediately following treatment, you can enhance its effects by gently moving the treated area with mild facial exercises.
For the first 2 hours after treatment, it’s important not to rub the affected areas. For the succeeding 24 hours, don’t engage in any vigorous exercise, drink alcohol or experience prolonged sun exposure – whether natural or artificial.
Botox Treatment AFTERCARE
After having anti-wrinkle injections, you can generally continue with life as usual. The only things that you need to avoid are rubbing or massaging the injected area for 4 hours after treatment, strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment and tight headwear for 24 hours. You should also stay upright for 4 hours after the treatment.
